John Dominick Marto, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and artist, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on October 30, 1954, John was a self-taught artist known for his vibrant, playful artwork that captured joy, happiness, and the essence of cartoons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John V. Marto & Marie (Amoroso) and siblings; Christopher & Michael Marto.
He leaves behind his two children, Dana Maria Marto Sullivan and John Anthony Marto, and his cherished grandson, Noah Timothy Sullivan. John was also a devoted big brother to seven sisters and three brothers; Rosemarie Romeo (Rocco), Linda Paldino (Peter “Bitsy”), Richard Marto, Patricia Marto, Diane Garcia (Luis), Sandra Bou (Andre), Chrisjohnna Catanio (John) & Gemma Gillen (Matthew) and had many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
John faced life’s struggles with remarkable strength and resilience. His unwavering spirit served as an inspiration to all who knew him.
John was also known for his intelligence, protectiveness, and generosity, leaving a legacy of kindness and creativity that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riotto Funeral Home.
Relatives and Friends are invited to return on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth St., Jersey City, NJ 07302
Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
