John F. "Jack" McLoughlin, 71, a lifelong Jersey City resident and proud Irish American, passed into eternal life on July 23, 2025. Jack was a proud veteran, serving for 20 years in both the Army and then Army National Guard before retiring as a Captain. During that time, he spent several years stationed in Germany. In addition to serving his country, Jack was also a firefighter with the Jersey City Fire Department, retiring from the Mask Service Unit in 2010 after 30 years of service in various roles.
In his free time, Jack was an avid reader and traveler. He backpacked to countries around the world, having visited 6 out of 7 continents and became fluent in several languages. A true renaissance man, he had also received his pilot's license, was a certified scuba diver, beer connoisseur, and had even gone skydiving.
Following his retirement, Jack was an active HAM radio operator (his handle KC2PDO) and above all enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his sister Margaret Flint (nee McLoughlin), brother Patrick McLoughlin of Florida, his niece Virginia Flint Montenegro and husband Paul, and his great niece Ginger Montenegro. He was predeceased by his parents John and Virginia McLoughlin (nee Belanger) and his brother James McLoughlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Jack's honor to the charity of your choice.
