John "John John" Ruggiero Obituary

John Ruggiero, affectionately known as John John, passed away on December 16, 2025, at his residence in Hamilton, NJ. He was 61 years old.

Born on August 1, 1964, in Jersey City, NJ, John was the beloved son of the late Vincent and Irene Ruggiero. He grew up on Wayne Street in Jersey City, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the outgoing and genuine personality that would define him throughout his life. He later moved to Edison, NJ, where he proudly raised his son, Evan.

John dedicated his professional life to public service, retiring after a long and honorable career with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a member of the SEMAC Bridge Painters. One of the most significant moments of his career was his contribution to the recovery efforts at Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This service reflected his deep patriotism, resilience, and commitment to helping others during times of crisis.

John was known for his sociable nature and his ability to turn strangers into friends. Honest, loyal, and generous, he valued strong relationships and maintained lifelong friendships. He loved people deeply and gave of himself freely, always ready to help someone in need.

Outside of work, John was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast who found freedom on the open road. He also shared a special bond with animals and dearly loved his dogs, OJ and Fudge, and his cat, Mush Mush, who brought him comfort and companionship.

John is survived by his loving son, Evan; his devoted brother, Vincent; his cherished nephew, Vincent; and his beloved nieces, Gina and Melissa. He was predeceased by his sister, Estelle, and his parents, Vincent and Irene Ruggiero.
