Jose Cerritos Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose Humberto Cerritos, affectionately known as "Pinchewey." Jose, a beloved lifelong resident of Jersey City, New Jersey, was born on November 12, 1954, in San Salvador, El Salvador. He peacefully departed this world on March 17, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, including his daughters, Guadalupe and Lisseth, his sons-in-law, Hugo and Tony, and his cherished wife, Marta.

Jose dedicated his life to his work in transportation as a supervisor, where he was known for his commitment and leadership. He was deeply respected by his peers and found joy in mentoring others within the industry. Above all, Jose was a proud grandfather to Herbert, Marc, Christopher, George, Michael, Betzabe, Sofia, and his beloved pets, Granddog Princess Leia and Grandcat Lola. His spirit, generosity, and affection will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Jose also leaves behind his daughter Patricia and son Jose Humberto, Jr.

The Cerritos family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Jose's remarkable life and legacy during a public viewing that will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home and Cremation Company, located at 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. For those attending, parking will be available on 14 Stagg Street and additional parking on Kennedy Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to support the fight against Parkinson's Disease, an effort that holds significant meaning for them. Contributions can be made through the Parkinson's Foundation at parkinsonfoundation.org.

On behalf of the Cerritos family, we want to thank all who have offered their support during this difficult time. Jose's memory will be cherished and celebrated, bringing comfort to those who hold him dearly in their hearts.

 

 

Con profundo pesar y gran tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de José Humberto Cerritos, cariñosamente conocido como "Pinchewey." José, un querido residente de toda la vida de Jersey City, Nueva Jersey, nació el 12 de noviembre de 1954 en San Salvador, El Salvador. Partió en paz de este mundo el 17 de marzo de 2025, rodeado del amor y la calidez de su familia, incluyendo a sus hijas, Guadalupe y Lisseth, sus yernos, Hugo y Tony, y su amada esposa, Marta.

José dedicó su vida a su trabajo en el sector del transporte como supervisor, donde era reconocido por su compromiso y liderazgo. Fue profundamente respetado por sus compañeros y encontró alegría en guiar y mentorizar a otros dentro de la industria. Sobre todo, José fue un orgulloso abuelo de Herbert, Marc, Christopher, George, Michael, Betzabé, Sofía y de sus queridas mascotas, la perrita Princesa Leia y la gatita Lola. Su espíritu, generosidad y cariño vivirán por siempre en los corazones de todos los que lo conocieron y amaron. José también deja atrás a su hija Patricia y a su hijo José Humberto, Jr.
