Jose Junior Saez Penate

With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved Jose Junior Saez Penate, 28, of Jersey City, New Jersey, formerly of Houston, Texas, who passed away on June 13, 2026.

Jose was the cherished son of Luz Maldinero and Jose Saenz and the beloved second child of four siblings, proudly serving as the only brother to his three sisters. From the moment he entered our lives, Jose brought energy, laughter, curiosity, and a love that touched everyone around him.

Jose was fierce and outspoken, never afraid to stand up for what he believed in. Yet behind his strong spirit was a gentle, caring, and loyal heart. He was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, often putting others before himself. He cared deeply about people and always had something thoughtful, honest, or encouraging to say.

As a child, Jose was endlessly curious. He loved learning and dreamed of becoming a doctor because he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. He had a big heart and a natural desire to care for others. Those who knew him best knew that his compassion was one of his greatest gifts.

Jose found joy in exploring the world. He loved traveling, discovering new places, and trying different foods. He embraced new experiences with excitement and wonder. He also had a deep love for our planet and a fascination with the universe beyond it. He loved looking up at the night sky and sharing his knowledge of astronomy with family and friends, often pointing out planets, explaining which ones were visible, and talking about their place in the cosmos. His curiosity about the stars reflected his lifelong desire to learn and understand the world around him. He also had a special love for animals. His first pet, a dog named Letty, was more than a pet—she was his best friend. The bond they shared brought him immense happiness and created memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Music was one of Jose’s greatest passions, especially pop music. He was a devoted fan of Lady Gaga and was thrilled to attend one of her concerts—an experience he treasured. He lived life with enthusiasm and was never afraid to express himself.

To his sisters, Jose was more than a brother—he was a protector, a confidant, and a source of strength. He took his role seriously and always made sure his sisters knew they were loved. His presence brought comfort, guidance, and laughter, and the space he leaves behind can never truly be filled.

Jose was deeply loved by his family and friends. Many knew his bold and outspoken side, but those closest to him were fortunate enough to know his softer side—the caring friend, loyal companion, thoughtful son, and loving brother. He built meaningful friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jose is survived by his loving mother, Luz Maldinero; his father, Jose Saenz; his sisters, Yuri Penate, Karla Saenz, and Joana Saenz; and his beloved grandparents , Blanca Penate and Isabel Maldinero. He also leaves behind many relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

Although our hearts are broken by this loss, we find comfort in the love Jose gave so freely and the memories he leaves behind. His laughter, courage, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will remain with us always.

Jose’s life was a gift, and his memory will live on in every story shared, every song that reminds us of him, every star that shines in the night sky, and every act of kindness inspired by the way he lived. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. 

Visitation day will be Sunday, June 21, 2026, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company. 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd, 07306 (For GPS it is best to use our parking lot address, 14 Stagg St.). Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, 10:00am at St. Aloysius Church, 691 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, 748 Schuyler Ave, Kearny, NJ 07032.
