Dr. Joseph Amorino, 71, of Upper Montclair, formerly of the Marion Section of Jersey City, passed away on May 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Beloved partner of Robert Calderone for over 50 years, brother to Candace Amorino (husband David), Elizabeth DeQuatro (husband Gene) and Sam Amorino Jr., brother-in-law to Fred Calderone and uncle to loving nieces and nephews, he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his mother Sadie Amorino and predeceased by his father Samuel Amorino Sr.
Joseph received his Doctoral Degree from Columbia University and was a Professor and the Fine Arts Education Coordinator at Kean University for over 20 years. His art work and scholarly articles have been published internationally in numerous journals and magazines.
Joey was so loved by his family and friends. He had a wonderful quirky sense of humor that entertained everyone. He will be greatly missed and always remembered in our hearts... forever.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ, 07306 (For GPS it is best to use our parking lot address 14 Stagg St., additional parking lot can be located on Kennedy Blvd.) Funeral will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
