Joseph A Costantino

Joseph A. Costantino, 90, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud American, passed away on August 19, 2026.

Born in Jersey City on June 7, 1936, Joseph was the son of the late Nicola Costantino and Rosaria Zicchinella Costantino. He grew up in Union City and later moved with his wife, Phyllis Costantino, née Ricigliano, to North Bergen, where they raised their family. In later years, they lived in Brick before settling in West Caldwell.

Joseph proudly served in the United States Army Reserve as a cook. For many years, he owned and operated Kennedy Motors in West New York, where he especially enjoyed detailing the cars at his dealership. After retiring, he worked as a school bus aide in Brick, assisting children with special needs.

Joseph enjoyed playing cards, going to the racetrack and Atlantic City, and listening to his music. He also treasured the time spent with his grandchildren, whether playing with his train set or attending as many of their sporting events as he could.

Easygoing and kindhearted, Joseph had a heart of gold. He rarely had an unkind word to say about anyone, never complained, and was always there to take care of the people he loved. He was deeply patriotic, spiritual, and above all, devoted to his family.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis; his children, Nicole Bush and her husband Jim, and Joseph Costantino and his wife Erinn; his grandchildren, Trent, Aidan, Maya, Joey, and Olivia; his brothers, Nicholas Costantino and his wife Angela, Dominick Costantino and Dorothy, and John Costantino and his wife Marion; his sister in-law, Lucille Geller, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Nicola and Rosaria Costantino.

Joseph will be remembered for his gentle nature, generous heart, strong faith, and the love he gave so freely to his family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by an 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rocco's Church in Union City. Interment will follow at Grove Reformed Church Cemetery in North Bergen.
