Josephine Berrios Obituary

Josephine Berrios, 67, born on July 7, 1954 in New York City and was a resident of Jersey City, NJ. Words fall short to describe the woman Josie was; a shining light to every room and person she encountered. Family was Josie’s first priority, raising 5 children of her own and 5 nephews. She woke up every morning and sent her loved ones morning blessings. Her favorite pastime included celebrating holidays, birthdays, graduations, accomplishments, and any special occasion that would allow her to buy a cake and gather with her loved ones. She had an open door policy, extending a helping hand to those in need at all times.

Josie possessed a strong work ethic and was loved by everyone in her community. She worked for the Jersey City Board of Education for 25 years. She loved cooking for the children in her school district and the strong family relationship she evolved with her coworkers throughout the years. In her community, Josie was well respected. She was often found cooking her famous yellow rice for community cookouts and always checked in and fed her neighbors.

Josie was one of a kind, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of engaging with her. Despite her tough exterior, she had a huge soft heart and genuinely desired the best for others. Let us remember her for being caring, loving, reliable, possessing loyalty, honesty, dignity, and most importantly being our beautiful Josephine Berrios. Josie became our guardian angel on Saturday, December 18, 2021 as a true warrior who fought a good fight. She will be missed, but her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
Her legacy of love will most be cherished by her beloved; children, Luzcinda Rivas (48), Flordaliza Torres (37), Kelvin Araujo (22), Fanny Araujo (39), David Rivas (43), nephews, David Berrios (38), Manuel Berrios (29), John Ramos (28), Elvis Berrios (23), and Angel J. Berrios (18), her loving grandchildren, siblings, and other family and friends.
