Kathleen Falokun Obituary

Mrs. Kathleen Mokoli Falokun was born on July 1, 1950 in Oke Ejigbo Abeokuta,Ogun State, Nigeria. Born by parents of Cameroonian descent, Late Pa Samuel Martin & Ma Dorcas Martin nee Shodunke. As a young child, she was lovingly placed in the care of Late Mr. and Mrs. Scott in Lagos, Nigeria, when her parents returned to Cameroon - a foundation that would shape the warm, resilient, and gracious woman she would become.

Kathleen began her formative education at Ijero Baptist Primary School in Ebute Metta, before going on to Reagan Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos, where she completed her secondary education in 1969.

Kathleen went on to distinguish herself in public service, taking up a prominent role at the Cabinet Office of the Federal Government of Nigeria as a Federal Government Trade Secretary. Her tenure was a testament to her professionalism, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her nation. She also contributed her expertise at the Ministry of Works and Housing, serving with diligence and excellence across both institutions until her relocation prior to June 1996.

In marriage, Kathleen found a lifelong partnership built on love and purpose. She was a devoted wife for approximately 49 years and a cherished mother of four, raising her family with warmth, generosity, and an open door for all who needed it. She was a second mother to many - always giving clothes, gifts, and an abundance of unconditional love without hesitation. A devoted and loving grandmother, she cherished each of her grandchildren deeply - both biological and those welcomed into her heart as her own. She delighted in spoiling them with boundless generosity and thoughtfulness, leaving each one touched by her warmth and grace. Mummy was truly an Iya ni Wura iye biye.

Above all, Kathleen was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She was a dedicated member of Yaba Baptist Church in Lagos, Nigeria, where her spiritual journey was rooted and served in the Ushering Ministry. Upon relocating to the United States in 1996, she continued to serve God wholeheartedly at Mount Hermon Baptist Church in the Bronx, New York, and at R.C.C.G Mercy Seat Parish in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mummy loved her God and served Him faithfully until her very last breath.

Mrs. Kathleen Mokoli Falokun departed this life on May 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and enduring grace. She was cherished not only by her family but by every life she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Oladiran Falokun, and their children, Olawunmi and Akinjide Famuagun, Olawale and Adebola Falokun, Olabosipo and Olasumbo Adefila and Olayemi and Christine Falokun. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tenioluwa, Motunrayo, Naomi, Noah, Temitope, Temitayo, Sire and Sage; her siblings, Nako Martin, Ewokolo Iyabo Martin and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom carry her memory forward.
