With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevin Richard DeFreitas on January 23, 2025, in Jersey City, NJ. Born on September 8, 1981, in Brooklyn, NY, Kevin lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments that touched all who knew him.
Kevin spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Franklin Park, NJ, in 2003. In 2013, he made Jersey City his home, where he continued to build a life surrounded by family, friends, and cherished memories. A graduate of Bentley University, Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance, pursuing a career that showcased his dedication and determination.
A man of many passions, Kevin was a devoted fan of the Yankees, Knicks, and Giants, always cheering on his favorite New York teams. He had an insatiable love for wrestling, movies, and Jeopardy, and was known for his knack for storytelling that could captivate any room. Kevin’s love of food and cooking brought joy to those around him, as he constantly sought out new recipes to share. Above all, he shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Daisy, who was a constant source of happiness.
Kevin’s vibrant personality and quick wit made him the life of any gathering. His gregarious nature, humor, and caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Kevin is survived by his loving parents, Pamela and Lloyd DeFreitas; his sister, Karen DeFreitas; his grandmother, Geraldine Quintyn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his Aunt Jacqueline France, his grandparents Sybil and Lloyd DeFreitas, and his grandfather Samuel Quintyn.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City, NJ (For GPS, please use the parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306).

Kevin’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He brought light, warmth, and laughter into the world, and his presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
