In Loving Memory of Leonardo "Nayo" Lopez
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leonardo Lopez, affectionately known as Nayo, who left us to join his beloved wife, Aida “Jin” Iris Lopez. Born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, Leonardo’s life was a testament to love, family, and dedication.
Leonardo moved from Puerto Rico to New Jersey with a dream to start a new chapter of his life. He first settled himself in New Jersey, working hard and sacrificing much to build a foundation. After establishing himself, he married his beloved wife Aida. His commitment to their well-being was unwavering and profound. In addition to caring for his immediate family, Leonardo also assisted and guided his brothers and sisters with the keys to success, helping them start new lives and providing them with the same opportunities he sought for his own family.
He then started his family and had four children: Aracelly, Leonardo Jr., Nelida, and Lisandro. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to another five. His family was the center of his world, and he dedicated his life to ensuring they had everything they needed and more.
Leonardo had a deep love for animals, nurturing hundreds of canaries and keeping a few chickens and roosters around the household. He cared for them meticulously, knowing each bird’s pair and tending to their needs with great dedication. His love for animals was as strong as the love for his family.
Family gatherings were among Leonardo’s most cherished moments. He delighted in the laughter and warmth of his family, particularly enjoying his wife’s cooking during the holidays. Watching his family grow brought him immense joy and fulfillment. His home was always welcoming and warm, inviting family and friends over whether it was to say hi and chat a bit or for the larger family gatherings. Leonardo’s hospitality and open heart made everyone feel at home. He was beloved by all of his neighbors, who appreciated his kindness, generosity, and friendly nature.
Leonardo loved his coffee and crackers, a simple pleasure that brought him joy every day. He had a passion for playing lottery tickets, always hopeful for that winning ticket. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, filling his home with music and joy.
After the passing of his dear wife Aida, Leonardo was profoundly affected by her absence, feeling her loss deeply every day. As his strength waned, he found solace in the hope that they would be together again. Now, he is at peace, free from pain, and reunited with his beloved Aida.
Leonardo “Nayo” Lopez will be remembered for his unwavering love, his dedication to his family, and the gentle spirit he shared with everyone around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
May his soul rest in peace as he reunites with his beloved Aida. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and fondness.
