Lisa M. Lavelle Amoroso was born at St. Vincent's Hospital in Greenwich Village in New York City , NY on September 21st, 1945
She was one of seven children , six sisters and one brother of Mary & Anthony Lavelle.
An English and Journalism major during her college years at Jersey City State College, she was hired and wrote briefly for The Jersey Journal before becoming a teacher. Lisa taught English at Ferris High School and always had passion for travel, literature and journalism.
Lisa retired from teaching almost 12 years ago after a 30 plus year career inspiring many young minds to spend her time traveling the world with friends and her life partner James Catarella.
Lisa loved the beach and spent a lot of her time reading in her happy place at the shore in Belmar, NJ during the summers.
A larger than life personality at just over 5 feet tall Lisa was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger in her 76 years. Spunky, funny and full of life, a loving and carrying mother, grandmother, mother in law, friend and partner. She loved life and life loved her back!
Lisa passed gently on October 4th, 2021 with her friends and son by her side in Tom’s River, NJ.
Lisa will be deeply missed and leaves behind many friends, son Anthony, grandchildren Leonardo and Angelina, daughter in law Martina, sister Michelle and her life partner of 41 years James Catarella.

Visitation is on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. Entombment will follow 1:30 PM at Holy Name Mausoleum, Jersey City.
