Louis Vegas, of West New York, NJ, was born on July 20th, 1953 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY. He gained his wings on March 8th, 2020 when he passed peacefully at Palisades Hospital in North Bergen, New Jersey.
He will be remembered for his big, bold and bright personality. He was known for his strong work ethic which began at a very, very young age. He was a proud Puerto Rican man in the best way, and never strayed away from representing Brooklyn or Puerto Rico. He never forgot where he came from, which was another of his many admirable traits.
Louis was extremely passionate about family, particularly his wife and grandchildren. Regardless of any hardships he was experiencing, he would never miss a Valentine’s Day, an Anniversary or “just because” opportunity to shower his wife with love and gifts; If there is one thing everyone knew about Louis, is that he loved his wife Porfiria aka Rupi, with every fiber of his being.
He never let his grandchildren forget the importance of hard work, integrity and above all, family. He loved music, old country western movies, reading, and watching wrestling. The light, love and laughter that emanated from Louis will be engrained in our memories forever.
Surviving is: his beloved wife Porfiria Vegas, step daughter Lynn Vegas, his grandchildren Marcus R. Vegas and Kristan Vegas, brothers David Blas, Freddy Vega, Louie Vega, Carlos Vega, Peter Vega, David Vega and his father, Luis Vega, and sisters Lily Santiago, Amparo Brown and Margie Blas. He was also a proud father of Marcus Vegas, Steven Vegas and Kimberly Vegas. While we all will love and miss him endlessly, we are blessed to have known him, been loved by him and most of all that he is now at peace and pain free- watching over us all.
