Lygia Hernandez Obituary

Lygia J. Hernandez, 88, of West New York, formerly of Cuba, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Lygia is the daughter of the late Jose Joanes, and late Angelina Pando, who is also predeceased by her beloved husband Orlando A. Hernandez, and her cherished brothers Jose Angel, and Armando Joanes Pando. She is survived by siblings Arnaldo, and Maria Caridad Joanes Pando, and her loving children Alejandro (Alex) and Marlene Hernandez.

Lygia was born in Santiago de Cuba where she became an educator and taught children how to read and write, she was also crowned Miss Oriente De Cuba in 1954, When she came to the United States she became a Social Worker for the NY Archdiocese.
