Maria D'Souza

Maria D'Souza passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in Bombay, India, Maria lived a life defined by dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. She was known for her gentle and joyful spirit, her unwavering support for those she loved, and the kindness she offered to everyone she met. 

During her life Maria was known as gifted, passionate and a kind person. She always met people with compassion and was always there to lend an ear. Her laughter brought joy to this world and echoed inside each any every person that knew her. She walked through this world with a strong sense of faith and loved to tend to her statue of Mother Mary in her front her garden. She was a lover of animals and now rests with each of her pets that she loved so dearly. Maria was a symbol of strength and resilience to the whole family and will be remembered as a shining light for the rest of our lives.

Maria is survived by her husband, Joseph D’Souza; her son, Jonathan D’Souza; and her daughter, Natasha D’Souza. She is also survived by her sisters Xafira Mendonsa, Estela Crasto, and Angela Fernandes, as well as extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts. 

Safely home, where light is endless and joy rises without sorrow. Her laughter lives on in every heart she touched, her spirit free, her soul at peace. No more pain, no more shadows,only warmth, love, and everlasting light. Maria’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. May she rest in eternal peace, welcomed into everlasting light.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. For GPS Navigation, it is best to use the parking lot entrance address: 14 Stagg St., Jersey City, NJ. 

Funeral Mass will follow 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 3026 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey Ctiy, NJ 07306. 

Interment will take place at Bayview - New York Bay Cemetery, 321 Garfield Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07305

Live streaming of the Funeral Mass will be available for those who are unable to attend in person; details will be shared as arrangements are finalized.
