Maria D Ramos Robles

Altruism is not a characteristic easily found by today's standards. It is the essence of selflessness, and generosity. The action that is taken to help someone without even thinking of how it will affect oneself in the positive, or the negative. This was Maria D. Ramos; altruistic at heart.

Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico in April of 1952, to Maria Urbina Bermudez and Juan Pedro Robles, she traveled with her parents and siblings to take up permanent residence in Jersey City, NJ in 1957. As a child she attended P.S. 37 and then Dickinson High School.  At the age of 16 she started to work at what was then known as Pollack Hospital, which is where she worked for over 25 years, and also the Hudson County Dept. Of Health and Human Services for another number of years until her retirement. 

In 1972 she gave birth to her daughter, Maritza, then in 1978 her son, Jason. 
Her family meant everything to her, as could easily be seen by all of the family gatherings, especially holiday parties at her home.  She took special care of her husband in his battle with cancer, her father during his illness, and her mother in her battle with Alzheimers. All until their final days. Her three granddaughters were her joy, and her favorite thing to do was spend time with them, and shopping of course.

Unfortunately on April 30th, Maria D. Ramos breathed her final breath after a year long fight with cancer. She is survived by her oldest daughter Maritza Urbina and Son in Law Edwin Urbina, her son Jason Ramos, and Daughter in Law Janet Ramos, her 3 Granddaughters Rebecca M. Suarez, Isabella M. Ramos, and Gabriela S. Ramos, her 2 oldest siblings, and several nieces and nephews.

If asked Maria would say that raising her children and loving on her granddaughters were her greatest accomplishments. From the outside looking in though her innate ability to love, have compassion for others, and selflessly care through her actions are all traits of hers that were admirable and necessary to say the least.

She will indeed be missed. Rest in the arms of Jesus Christ Maria.

Visitation is Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ. (For Gps Navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street).  Funeral is Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery, Jersey City.
