Maricela Quintana

Maricela Quintana, 69, of Dumont, NJ and formerly of Jersey City, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Maricela worked for more than 35 years in Hispanic Ministry at the Diocesan, Regional and National level.  Director of the Hispanic Ministry for the Archdiocese of Newark, she was also the Executive Assistant Director of the Northeast Hispanic Catholic Center  Maricela was a professor and board member of the Midwest Cultural Leadership Institute and a professor in St. Elizabeth University.  She was known as a speaker and retreat director throughout the nation.

Maricela received a Bachelor’s Degree of Psychology and a Master’s Degree of Theology from St. Elizabeth University.  She also received a certification in Religious Education from Seton Hall University and a certification on Violence Against Women from Rutgers University.

Maricela was a loving, caring, giving person. She devoted her life to helping those in need. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Maricela was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Joumari Vega Torres.

Surviving is her beloved son, Juan Carlos Sanchez. Her dear siblings, Mirna I Quintana, and Raymond Quintana. Her cherished grandchildren, Angelica Marie Torres, and Destin Isaiah Torres. Also surviving are her loving nephews and friends.

Visitation is on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME  & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.  Funeral Mass is on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Church (corner of Ferry St. & Central Ave.), Jersey City.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for Women Against Abuse (www.womenagainstabuse.org) or Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Cancer Research (www.mskcc.org)
