Mark Joseph Panek

Mark Joseph Panek, 66, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, Mark was the son of the late Francis and Ann Panek. He graduated from Hillsborough High School and attended Ocean County College. He later served for several years in the United States Army National Guard and, throughout his career, worked as a mechanic, maintenance worker, and truck driver across New Jersey.

A passionate musician, Mark played drums as a teenager for his high school marching band and the local band Onyx. He also enjoyed playing piano, ringing bells at church, and singing and dancing with his family.

Mark had a lifelong love for sports and staying active. He grew up wrestling and boxing, enjoyed playing pool and bowling, and spent many years coaching his daughters’ softball teams. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, he especially cherished attending a recent game with his daughters and sons-in-law. He loved working on cars, vacationing at the beach and lakes, listening to music, and going to concerts with loved ones. He also dedicated many years to participating in local church activities.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica DiGiorgio and her husband James, of New Jersey; and Lauren Talento and her husband Ryan, of Virginia; his sister, Janet Panek-Harding and her husband Rick, of Pennsylvania; and brothers, John Panek and his wife Susan, of New Jersey; and Raymond Panek and his wife Samantha, of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his grandson, Dominick DiGiorgio, and his soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Baby Talento.

Visiting will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Fellowship Bible Church, 109 New Amwell Rd, Hillsborough Township, NJ 08844. A religious service will follow at 4:00 PM. Cremation will be private. Inurnment will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, 12:00 PM at Holy Mother of Sorrows Parish Cemetery in Dupont, PA.
