Martha Margarita Villata, (nee Alfonso), 83, of Jersey City, NJ, passed peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Martha was born in Entre Rios, Argentina and moved to the U.S in 1974.
Martha was a vibrant and selfless soul, who enjoyed reading and sewing. Her family was the center of her world. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. A gifted cook and gracious hostess, Martha delighted in preparing feasts for her loved ones and often surprised friends with her exquisite cakes and pies. Her kitchen was always open, and a delicious meal was never far away, no matter the hour.
In her younger years, Martha enjoyed the thrill of fishing, a good “asado” (Argentinean barbecue) and family trips to the lake for picnics. However, her greatest joy was dancing with her husband, Roberto.
Martha will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and an animal lover. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, but the imprint of her love remains etched in our hearts and minds.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carlos Alfonso and Elba Figun De Rossi; and her brother, Carlos Figun. Martha is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Roberto Villata; her loving children, Gabriela and Christian; and her cherished grandchildren, Ariell Villata, Aristides, and Dante Maisto. Martha is also survived by her dear sisters, Teresa Figun-Vertanian and Susana Alfonso; nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and spirit.
A private memorial service will be held to honor her life.
