Mary McConnell

Mary McConnell, 86, was born in Cork, Ireland and came to the US in the late 60s to start a new life. She was welcomed by her brother, Patrick’s family; and worked at the iconic Macy’s Herald Square for thirty-one years and made Jersey City her home. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and was a devoted Rosarian.  She enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City with them.  Her Rosarian sisters were family to her.

Mary is survived by her niece, Mary Jo and nephew, Robert and their families here in the US; her sister Eileen, nephews Stephen and Martin; nieces, Claire and Frances and their families in the U.K.   She is predeceased by her brothers, Patrick and Michael, and her parents, Mary and Patrick.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City, NJ.  Entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Ave., Jersey City, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Breadline, which feeds the hungry compassionately in NYC daily.
