April 27, 1985 – May 18, 2026
Matthew George Willms, age 41, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Jersey City, NJ.
Born on April 27, 1985, Matt was a man of deep conviction and gentle spirit. He dedicated his professional life to the well-being of others, working for Johnson & Johnson in the vaccine development department. Matthew was truly passionate about his work, driven by a sincere desire to make the world a safer and healthier place for everyone.
To those who didn’t know him well, Matthew was known for being soft-spoken and thoughtful. However, to those lucky enough to be in his inner circle, he was a man of strong opinions and a personality that was "stubborn" in the most endearing way. Above all, he was kind, loving, and profoundly caring.
Matthew’s greatest joy was found in the company of his friends and family. Whether he was relaxing at the beach, exploring new places on vacation, going to concerts or enjoying a simple night out at the movies or a favorite restaurant, he cherished every moment. His most treasured role, however, was as an uncle. He adored his 9-year-old niece, Vera, and the bond they shared was truly special.
Matthew is survived by his devoted parents, Gilda and John Willms; his sister, Theresa Cataldo, and her husband, Sal Cataldo, his beloved niece, Vera Cataldo as well as Aunts, Dorothy and Marianne Willms and cousins George Willms and Veronica Krouse. He also leaves behind a community of friends and colleagues who will miss his integrity and warmth.
Matthew will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
