Maureen Theresa O’Neill passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 28, 1946, and lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for those around her.
Maureen devoted much of her life to education, serving as a beloved teacher at Nicolaus Copernicus School in Jersey City. With a Master’s degree in Teaching, she guided generations of students from first through fourth grade, leaving a lasting impact on each child she taught. She approached her work with patience, compassion, and a genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed.
Beyond the classroom, Maureen was an active and engaged member of her community. She proudly served as President of her condominium association, always willing to lend her time and energy to improve the lives of those around her. She was an avid reader and a member of her book club, finding joy in stories and meaningful conversation. She also loved watching movies, often sharing those moments with family and friends.
Above all, Maureen was a caring and loving person whose greatest joy came from her family. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving sister, Mary Catherine (née O’Neill) and her husband Michael Donatelli; her brother, Thomas James O’Neill, Jr.; and her cherished cousins.
Maureen was predeceased by her beloved parents, Mary Theresa (née Cox) and Thomas James O’Neill, Sr.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, her former students, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be remembered with love, gratitude, and the countless beautiful memories she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306(For GPS it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg St.). Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
