Nereida (Nellie) Ramos (née Romero) passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Passaic NJ. She went to be with the Lord our Savior at the age of 72 born on December 8,1952 in Bronx, NY. She is predeceased by her parents, Felicia and Ramon Romero and her brother, Nelson. She is survived and greatly missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Victor Ramos, and her cherished children, Angela and Victor Jr. Lovingly remembered by her siblings, Nilda Ortiz-Gallardo and husband, Manuel, Victor Romero and wife, Annie, Anthony (Tony) Romero as well as her nieces and nephews and brother and sisters-in-law Wilson and Lucy Ramos, and Awilda Baez. Nellie also leaves behind a host of cousins who shared in her joyful spirit and adored her dearly. Among them are Dr. Joseph Ramos, Nancy, Hector, Ana, Anthony, Angelo, Ozzie, Margie, Christina, Miriam, Myrta and Wilma and her dearest friends, Minerva Rolon, Lillian Rolon, Lucy Santiago, Elizabeth Santiago Mateo, and Nancy Morales.
Nellie grew up in downtown Jersey City. She was a graduate of Ferris High School class of 1971. Upon graduation, she went to work as a Clerk Typist for the City of Jersey City in the licensing department. Nellie retired after 29 years of service. Having lived in Jersey City for most of her life, she then moved to Bayonne, New Jersey to care for her son. Nellie, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a gentle soul with a sweet disposition and warm smile. She was a star bowler, loved playing Lotteria, and most of all, traveling with friends. Her journey on this earth was marked by unwavering love, compassion and kindness. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and beloved friends. Although her physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. Remember Nellie for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visitation is Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS navigation it is best to use: 14 Stagg Street). Funeral services is Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at funeral home. A funeral mass to honor the life of Nellie is Friday, April 4, 2025 is 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Ave., Jersey City.
