Nima "Nimeh" Alam, 85, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bethlehem, Palestine, she moved to the United States and lived her life in Jersey City. In her youth, she had a passion of learning for English and Mathematics. Nima was known for making her crocheting and other unique crafts. When she decided to finish school, she worked in New York City as a seamstress specializing in embroidery for wedding gowns before devoting her life to taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jalil Alam; her children Milad Alam (wife Mary Alam), Amal Khoury, Marlene Twal (deceased Odeh Twal), Mary Alam; Muntaha Alam; her siblings Mousa, Juda; grandchildren Mike, Murad (wife Mayra), Azam (wife Lissette), Maro, Erika, Marriam, Mario, Grace, Mario, Jalil,Emily; great-grandchildren David, Simone, Curtis, Matthew, Avery. She is predeceased by her parents, Bishara and Ann; her son Mario, sisters Amal Almasri, Liza Farah and Helwa Twal and brother Saleem Almasri.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City. Everyone is invited to meet at Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 415 Lackawanna Ave., Woodland Park, NJ for a 10:00 AM funeral mass on Friday, September 6, 2019 . Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
