Noah Ryan Goss

Noah Goss, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and physician assistant, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 45. Born on July 14, 1981, Noah was originally from Bowling Green, Ohio, and throughout his life also called Chicago and Jersey City, New Jersey, home.

Noah graduated from Bowling Green High School in 2000 and went on to Ohio University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004. He later attended Midwestern University in Chicago, graduating in 2011 with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Noah dedicated his career to medicine and most recently worked as a physician assistant at the Center for Special Studies Clinic in Chelsea, New York, for New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He deeply valued his work and the people he worked alongside. 

Those who knew Noah will remember him first for his humor and his ability to bring joy wherever he went. He was witty, incredibly intelligent, kind, and honest, with a personality that ensured he could never simply blend into a family gathering. He always found a way to make it more fun.

Noah loved being an uncle and brought a special kind of mischief and laughter to his family. One of his favorite Christmas traditions was sending pictures of himself snooping through his nieces’ stockings on Christmas morning. These moments captured so much of who Noah was: playful, funny, generous, and always looking for a way to make the people he loved smile.

He had an appreciation for the good things in life like good food, good drinks, good company, and good conversation. He treasured the many close friendships he formed throughout his life, and his friends meant the world to him. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, creating laughter, and turning ordinary moments into memories.

Noah had a curious and adventurous spirit and an incredible love of travel. He loved researching and discovering off-the-beaten-path places, local restaurants, hidden gems, beautiful trails, places to kayak, memorable concerts, and opportunities to experience nature. Some of his favorite places in the United States included Wisconsin, Vermont, the Pacific Northwest and San Juan Islands, New Orleans, and California.

His adventures also took him to Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, and Panama. Baja California Sur held a particularly special place in his heart, where he spent unforgettable days snorkeling, watching humpback whales, swimming with whale sharks, and helping with the hatching of baby sea turtles. For Noah, travel was about more than seeing new places. It was about experiencing life, sharing adventures with people he loved, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Noah also loved running and playing beach volleyball. Animals held a special place in his heart, and no one was more beloved than his dog, Johnny, who was a cherished companion and an important part of his life.

To his family, Noah was irreplaceable. He was a beloved son to Caryn and Terry Folk and Paul Goss, a brother to Cory (Julian), Amanda, and Nathan, and the best uncle to his nieces, Kayla and Ivy Schrader. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, treasured friends, colleagues, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his presence. Noah was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Irma Souder and Rita Goss.

Noah was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.

Noah spoke so fondly of the people in his life, and we are very grateful for the friendship, care, and support you gave him.  A celebration of Noah's life will be held at a later date.
