Panagiotis “Peter” D. Hatzidoukas, 86, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born on January 6, 1940, in Lesvos, Greece, to the late Demitrios P. Hatzidoukas and Maria M. Haidemenou. He grew up in Greece, where he began building the strong values of faith, family, hard work, and kindness that would guide him throughout his life. He later made his home in New Jersey, where he lived until his passing.
As a young man, Peter served as an airplane mechanic in the Greek Air Force, a role that reflected his skill, discipline, and dedication. After coming to the United States, he became a successful entrepreneur and devoted himself to the dry cleaning business, where he worked with pride for 56 years before retiring.
Peter was a deeply religious man with a kind and gentle heart. He was known for always having a smile on his face and for the warmth he shared with everyone around him. He found joy in the simple and meaningful blessings of life, especially gardening, traveling, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and the love he had for them was evident in everything he did.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Hatzidoukas; his loving son, Demetrios Hatzidoukas, and his wife, Lisa; his cherished grandchildren, Peter, Isabella, and Michael Hatzidoukas; his beloved daughter, Aspasia D’Angelo, and her husband, John; and his cherished granddaughter, Alexandria D’Angelo.
He was predeceased by his dear parents, Demitrios P. Hatzidoukas and Maria M. Haidemenou.
Peter’s life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion, and love. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his generous heart, and the lasting love he gave to his family and friends. His memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
