Pasquale Veltre Obituary

Pasquale Veltre, 95, of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, passed away at home on April 2, 2026.

He was born on December 5, 1930, in Bagnara, province of Benevento, Italy. Pasquale grew up on a farm, where he developed a lifelong love for gardening vegetables and flowers. As a young man, he also enjoyed playing soccer. At the age of 20, in 1951, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a life in the Marion Section of Jersey City.

Throughout his life, Pasquale was known for his strong work ethic and versatility. He worked on the railroad, in a machine shop, and in construction, and also operated his own part-time tile business. A proud union member, he was affiliated with Heavy and General Laborers Local 472 and Local 172 Welfare Fund of New Jersey, remaining a dedicated member of Local 472 for 70 years.

In 1958, he met Emily, his loving wife of 65 years, at a Valentine’s Day dance. Together they had three wonderful children, Ralph, Roseann, and Richard. They resided together in Jersey City as they started a family until they moved to West Paterson. Later on, they moved from their home in West Paterson to their vacation home in the Poconos. In 2016, they moved back to New Jersey to be closer to their children and grandchildren

Pasquale enjoyed an active and fulfilling retirement. He was a member of several senior clubs, loved going on cruises, and cherished traveling to Italy with Emily. Pasquale was also a proud member of the Italian American Association of Clifton, as well as the Old Friends Beneficial Club of Clifton.  He was known for sharing stories of his youth and for his love of Italian proverbs. He found joy in making homemade wine with his sons and jarring tomatoes with his family.

A skilled craftsman, Pasquale was hardworking, dependable, and took great pride in providing for his family. He was also known for his sharp sense of style and his love of wearing suits for any occasion. Above all, Pasquale loved his family deeply, and they were the center of his life. His memory will be cherished in their hearts forever, and he will be missed immensely.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily; his son Ralph and his wife Jennifer; his daughter Roseann and her husband Charles Kneringer; and his son Richard and his wife Kelly. He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Rosa, Zachary, Nicholas, Ryan, Marco and his wife Skyler, and Danielle. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Manny.

Pasquale was predeceased by his parents, Angelo Raffaele and Pasqualina, as well as his sisters, Biagina Calicchio, Teresa Conzalazio, and Natalina Lena Kucan.
