Patrick Joseph Luzzi, 102, of Milford, Connecticut, formerly of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025. Born on September 15, 1923, in Jersey City, he was the beloved son of the late Rose Scarone and Cosimo Luzzi.
Patrick lived a life defined by devotion to family, service to his country, and a quiet, enduring faith. He belonged to a generation marked by courage and sacrifice, proudly serving in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. His military service was not simply a chapter of his life, but a reflection of his character. He carried with him a lifelong sense of duty, humility, and pride in having answered the call when his country needed him most.
After the war, Patrick returned home to Jersey City, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and community. He shared a loving and devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Margaret Luzzi, whose memory remained a constant presence in his life. Together, they cherished life’s simple joys, taking road trips, enjoying peaceful weekend stays in Upstate New York, listening to music, and sharing conversations filled with warmth and laughter.
Patrick was known for his outgoing and pleasant personality, and his ability to connect easily with others. He was an avid boxing fan, enjoyed sketching, loved to sing, and found comfort in listening to semi classical music. These interests reflected a thoughtful man with a deep appreciation for both creativity and tradition.
His faith guided him throughout his life. Patrick was a proud usher at St. Nicholas Church in Jersey City, where he served with reverence and dedication. He was also an active and committed member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Catholic War Veterans, and faithfully served as Treasurer for the Boy Scouts. In every role he accepted, Patrick led with integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to serve others.
In October 2019, Patrick moved to Milford, Connecticut, where he spent his later years surrounded by family, continuing to share his warmth, stories, and gentle wisdom. Though his residence changed, his heart remained deeply connected to Jersey City and the life he built there.
Patrick was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret, his son Andrew Luzzi, and his siblings Mary DiPinto, Louise Ficarra, and Nicholas Luzzi.
He is survived by his loving children Lorraine Ammerata, Maureen Ferrari, Patrick and his wife Linda, Robert and his wife Rosalind, Lawrence, and Michael and his wife Deborah. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great grandfather to 22 great grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy lives on through the love and values he passed down through generations.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his devoted caregivers Eve Medina and Kathleen Hassenmayer, Yaye Kamano, and to Nurse Mary Anne Ryan, whose compassion and care brought comfort and dignity during his later years.
