Peter Soluri, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. A lifelong resident of Jersey City, Peter was a proud son of the city he called home and a familiar, friendly face to many throughout the community. Born to the late Marietta and Peter Soluri, Sr., he grew up with strong family values that he carried with him throughout his life. He was self employed as a contractor for many years, dedicating himself to honest work and taking pride in the projects he completed. He built not only structures, but relationships, earning the respect of those who knew him.
Peter was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was spending time with family or sitting at his favorite diner, he found joy in conversation and connection. He was known for warmly asking, “You want to get a cup of java?” A simple invitation that reflected his love of company and good conversation.
He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Soluri (née Slevenski) with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. Peter leaves behind his five cherished children: Darlene Muniz and her husband Joseph; Robert Soluri and his wife Jody; Michael Soluri; Karen Corcia and her husband Joseph; and Diana McCrea and her husband Leonard. He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and a loving great grandfather to one beloved great grandchild, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Lacalandra. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred and Anthony.
