Raquel Faria DaSilva, 78, of North Bergen; passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021. Raquel was born on July 23, 1942 to Ambrozio and Hortencia in Guaxupe, a small mining town in Minas Gerais, Brazil. As a young girl, Raquel worked for a Middle Eastern family learning to speak Arabic and cook exotic dishes. In 1962, she met Fernando, and they wed in 1967, going on to have five children. She made many wonderful friends, learned how to speak Arabic and Spanish, and enjoyed going to Sunday worship. One of her proudest achievements in life was becoming a U.S. citizen. Later in life Raquel enjoyed the comforts of home, her cat Tequila, watching remodeling TV shows on HGTV, and connecting with family members near and far on video chat.
Raquel is survived by her her devoted husband, Fernando; their five loving children Marcos, Marcia (Thomas), Fernando Jr. (Patricia), Luciana, and Thaisi; and her caring brother, João. Raquel will be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren Gabriela, Nathalia, Baba, Daniel, Priscila, Isabella, and Ezra. She was predeceased in life by her parents, Ambrozio and Hortencia, her sister Maria, and her brothers, Celio and Samuel.
