Ricardo Somoza

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo Somoza, affectionately known as "Carding" by family and close friends, on April 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on September 5, 1951, in the Philippines, he later made his home in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a man of warmth, love, and generosity, and his legacy will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.

Carding is survived by his beloved spouse, Lourdes Somoza, and his cherished daughter, Leizyl Somoza & her husband, Jet. He was also a proud grandad to Jacen, 13, Linus, 8, and Micah, 3, who brought immense joy to his life. He took great joy in cooking for family and friends, often creating meals that brought everyone together to share in laughter and love. He treasured moments spent watching movies, especially Filipino teleseryes with his family.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 17, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ, 07306 (For GPS it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg St., additional parking lot can be found on Kennedy Blvd.) The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Of The Immaculate Conception Parish, 254 2nd St, Jersey City, NJ, 07302. Parking for Funeral Mass at The Morgan Garage (Propark)  160 Morgan St, Jersey City, NJ 07302

In celebration of his life, family and friends are asked to wear white during these services to honor his memory.
