It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Richard “Rick” G. Ensmenger, Jr., age 73, of Jersey City; entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, surrounded by his caring family. Rick was a remarkable man whose life was defined by service to his country and city, kindness, and legacy of love and unforgettable memories. Rick proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corp in 1970 and deployed to Vietnam and serving honorably until 1976. Rick was also a distinguished Jersey City Firefighter from 1981 until 2005. During his time on the department, he earned numerous recognition awards for his heroic efforts while on duty. He was also a training instructor for the department his time of service. Rick also had many volunteer roles throughout his life. He was a Boy Scout leader for St. John's Troop 470, ran a youth bowling league out of Roosevelt Lanes in Jersey City. Rick was also a member and Past President Hudson County Bowling Assocation. In his spare time, Rick loves fishing, bowling, archery, cooking, playing softball, billiards and darts. Rick loved going to his trailer in the mountains and country line dancing with his wife.
Rick is also the beloved husband of Barbara (Sukiennik) Ensmenger; devoted father of Coreen Perrini (Ensmenger) and her husband Michael Perrini, and Richard Ensmenger and wife Courtney Irwin. The loving “uncle” of many nieces and nephews and treasured friend of many. Rick is also survived by his Brother Thomas Ensmenger, wife Phyllis and nephew Jared. Sister Dorothy Kilroy and her husband Robert and niece Lauren and nephew Jeffery. Rick is predeased by his mother Dorothy (Moylan) Ensmenger and Richard “Dick” Ensmenger Sr.
Visitation is Monday, August 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Funeral is Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, N. Arlington, NJ.
