Robert Alfred Freda passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.
Born on May 23, 1928, in Newark, New Jersey, Robert was the beloved son of Robert and Grace Freda. He later moved to Verona, New Jersey, where he resided with his family for approximately 40 years.
Robert was a skilled draftsman who founded his own business in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He concluded his career at Tams Consultants in Bloomfield, where he was highly regarded for his expertise and dedication.
An avid athlete throughout his life, Robert grew up playing baseball and even secured a manager to try out for the Philadelphia Phillies before enlisting in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer during the Korean War. In his later years, he developed a passion for tennis and became a devoted golfer, spending countless hours on the greens perfecting his game.
Robert is survived by his three sons: Robert Freda; Gregg Freda and his wife Patti; and Richard Freda and his wife Gina. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Robert, Chelsea, Gregg, Jason, Elyse, Annika, and Austen.
A funeral service to honor Robert’s life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Saint Lucy's Church, located at 118 Seventh Ave., Newark, NJ 07104.
