Rose "Sandy" Bellizzi (nee Vertucci), 96, a lifelong resident of Jersey City passed away peacefully on Monday, August 30, 2021. Sandy was raised in Downtown Jersey City.
Sandy was the matriarch of the family and shared her knowledge, her wisdom with many.
The perfectionist she was, from cooking special meals to running charities, she was president of the Astrea Junior Guild.
The co-chairman of the Teresian of The Sodality of the children of Mary of St. Teresa. She was on the committee of St Francis Hospital ball, orchestrating the decorations to benefit raising money for hospital projects.
She was an officer of the Mothers Auxiliary of St. Aloysius Academy, the school her daughters attended raising money for the school or charity of their choice.
One of the proprietors of Stuyvesant Liquors, Sandy's creative window displays would have passers by gaze in amazement.
A connoisseur of wines, Sandy arranged wine tasting parties.
After selling her partnership she opened Rosemary Bridals, making every bride's dream come true, customizing headpieces for their special day.
She was a loving caring devoted mother and was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Bellizzi known as Chick, her beloved daughter Marianne Dudar, her beloved grandson Ryan Dudar, and her loving sister Joanne Tulloch.
She was survived by her daughter Gina Bellizzi who adored and cared for her Mom. Her sister Florence Frank, her nephews Robert, Joseph and Christopher Frank, and Margaret Ann Lyman niece of her late sister Joanne. Her dearest brother Lou Vertucci and sister-in-law Irene.
She was also survived by wonderful nieces and nephews, husbands and wives, cousins, sister in laws, friends and caregivers that touched her life in the last several years. Everyone one will miss her everyday for she is held deeply in our hearts forever. Sandy B. We Love You!
Visitation is on Thursday, September 2, 2021, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. Funeral Mass will follow 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. The family requests masks be worn. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
