Samuel Amoah, 75, of Jersey City; formerly of Accra, Ghana to the parents of Jonathan Stanslows Ayepa Amoah and Madam Cecelia Efua Amoah (nee Quacoe --Ntansa Efua); entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Samuel is the beloved father of Jessica Connelly (daughter) and her husband, Nelson Mojica; Samantha Connelly (daughter); the late Sean Connelly (son); Adom Kingsley Amoah (son); and the late Jonathan Amoah (son). He was a cherished brother to the late Fanny Amoah, his surviving sister Dorothy Falconer (Accra), the late Margaret Ofori, the late Elizabeth Efua Agovi, and the late Festus A.K. Amoah, along with their families. Samuel was also the adored grandfather of Cecilia Herbert and Nelsi Mojica, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. Samuel is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
Samuel, affectionately known as Sammy or Sam-Bam, was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, warmth, strength, and legendary dance moves. His laughter was contagious, and his smile could brighten any room. He dedicated over 23 years to BNY Mellon, where he made a lasting impact.
In retirement, Samuel continued his life of service as an active member of Zion Baptist Church in Jersey City, eventually becoming a respected deacon. Those who knew Sam knew his love for good food, as he had an appreciation for specialty dishes. His love for jazz and storytelling was undeniable, and he brought joy and warmth to every gathering.
Sam’s spirit and presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
Visitation is Friday, November 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS navigation it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Cremation is private.
