Stanley Stapinski Obituary

Stanley John Stapinski, age 67, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, December 27th, 2024.

“Stanuch”, “Charlie”, “Stash” or “Stan the Man” to all those who knew him — was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. There he met his cherished wife, Dolores, with whom he shared 38 beautiful years, some in the serene suburbs of Cranford, New Jersey, and some back on their home turf of good ol’ JC. Stan loved his hometown so much he recorded an original song about it, My Ol’ JC.

He was a formidable cook, an excellent bartender, terrific dancer and New York sports champion. As a young man he played street hockey and helped organize the league in Jersey City. Stan saw New York sports excellence as it happened between his Giants, Yankees, and the incomparable ’94 Rangers and would often call in to WFAN to argue with the commentators.

Stan was a music lover, whose first instrument was a hollow bodied electric, but eventually became a passionate drummer, banging his Pearl Ludwigs in local bands Pyramid, Uncle Sam and Katz N’ Treble. He worked at Colgate Palmolive, Corporate Printing Company, RCI Group and became the manager of Shop Rite. He was also a featured character in the books, Five-Finger Discount and Baby Plays Around.

But his greatest accomplishment was his attention to his family. Never was there a man more beloved by his family, friends and neighbors, and who always adored his family more fiercely than the rest.

Stan is survived by his devoted wife, Dolores Apruzzese Stapinski; his loving children, Alexander Stapinski and his wife Danielle White, Nicole Stapinski and her husband Ronan Doran; his mother Irene Stapinski; and his sisters Helene Stapinski and Paula Christen. Stan is also survived by a sprawling extended family of many other dear relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Stan’s memory.
