Stephen Ralph Wilson, (retired JCPD) 66, lifelong resident of Jersey City, went to his eternal rest on December 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Susan (Venezia) and Samuel Wilson, he attended Dickinson high school and joined the Jersey City Police Department in 1979 where he served proudly for 25 years. Stephen was a highly decorated officer, a loyal member of the force and a major asset to the community he served, where he made a positive influence in the lives of others.
Stephen was blessed with a large and loving family and leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife Gladys Wilson (Nyaboga), his beloved son Stephen Wilson, daughter in law Anne and his grandson Aidan. He is survived by sisters Susan and John (deceased) Kerr, Laurie and James Lonnay, Patricia and William Rider, Diane and Kevin Kilroy, Linda Guastini and best friend, Ralph Velez and cherished friend Bea.
He is predeceased by his brother Samuel Wilson (JCPD) and his twin brother Thomas who is survived by his wife, Adela Wilson. He leaves behind many brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, family and dear friends. He was considered an amazing role model, a father figure to many.
In recent years he enjoyed spending most of his time with his adoring grandson, whom he cherished dearly. He loved his Cadillac and motorcycle in which he put countless miles on during his cross-country adventures. He was an expert camper and outdoorsman.
He volunteered with the Boys Scouts of America and guided many to the rank of Eagle Scout. His handyman skills were legendary as he could fix anything from cars to drains to furnaces.
Stephen will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, loyalty, and kindness, but mostly for his devotion to his wife, son and family and his strong faith in God.
