Supriya Sanyal, 62, of Moonachie, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Supriya was tiny but mighty, fierce as a tiger and strong as a lion, with strength larger than life itself. She was born in Kolkata, India and raised by her beloved father Sibsankar and mother Nilasree.
Early on Supriya was a quick learner and would embrace any hobby that sparked her interest. From classical singing to engineering she had a mind that could learn it all. Her unwavering love for her husband Sukomal brought her thousands of miles to her new home in New Jersey. Supriya put down roots and created a family of her own. She was determined and passionate, she was a superhero in her own right. She worked full time, earned a college degree, took care of her kids and her sick husband and still made sure to have delicious homecooked meals on the
table every single night. She even became the first Indian Borough Clerk of Moonachie.
Becoming a widow at a young age, she volunteered her time to the Moonachie First Aid Squad. From zipping through rainforests to climbing volcanos, Supriya embarked on countless bucket list adventures. She spent her free time in her favorite place, her thriving bountiful edible garden and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, sister and daughters Sumita and Sukesha, and her three granddaughters Ashira, Kaia and Suraiya who will miss her love, strength and endurance.
Family and friends are invited to honor Supriya’s life on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Rosedale Cemetery and Crematory 408 Orange Rd, Montclair, NJ 07042.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she rests peacefully, surrounded by eternal love. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the family.
