Suzanne “Suzy” Hunecke, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, passed away peacefully at her home on April 19, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on March 26, 1967, in Jersey City, Suzy was deeply proud of her roots and of the city she always called home.
For more than forty years, Suzy was a dedicated and loyal secretary with Kelly Dunn & Nestor CPA, where she was admired for her strong work ethic, kindness, and unwavering dependability. She also spent Saturdays working at Capelli’s Beauty Salon, where her warm personality and friendly smile made lasting impressions on everyone she met.
To know Suzy was to know kindness in action. She was endlessly giving, always the first to offer help, comfort, or encouragement to anyone in need. She had a heart especially tender toward animals, most notably cats. Her beloved companions, Patches and Dallas, brought her great joy. If Suzy ever saw a stray cat on the street, she would stop whatever she was doing to make sure it was fed and cared for.
She was outgoing, personable, and effortlessly made friends wherever she went. Easygoing by nature and generous by spirit, Suzy touched countless lives simply by being herself. She never sought recognition for her goodness, but those who knew her understood that she lived the message of Matthew 25:35 to 40 each day through quiet acts of love, compassion, and service.
Suzy also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially shopping trips to the mall, gardening, flowers and plants, laughter with friends, and time spent with those she loved most. Her presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy to every room she entered.
She leaves behind her devoted partner, Nick, whose love and companionship brought her great happiness. She was the loving sister of Charlotte Holowienka and her husband Ray, Robin Brett and her husband James, Marisa Hunecke and her partner Manny, Peter Hunecke and his partner Elizabeth, Edward Hunecke and his wife Nicole and the dear sister in law of Phil DeTommaso. She was also a treasured aunt to Christopher, John, Darrin, Louis, Tiffany, Matthew, Andrew, James, Kaylee, Caroline, Patrick, Ava, and Jake, and a proud great aunt to Alyssa, Benjamin, Valin, and Marcellus. Her family was the center of her life, and she loved each of them deeply.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Anneliese and Edward Hunecke, and by her cherished sisters, Lorraine DeTommaso and Monica Hunecke.

Though her heart has stilled, the goodness she gave so freely will live on in all who were blessed to know her. Suzy’s memory will forever be a light of compassion, loyalty, and love. She will be deeply missed.
