Theresa Boitano fought the good fight to the age of 89. She passed away on Monday, May 19th, just shy of her 90th birthday. Terry was the proud daughter of Rose and Fred Boitano of Bayonne, NJ. Born on June 8th, 1935, Terry remained a devoted resident of Bayonne for most of her life. She attended nursing school at Bayonne Hospital, and became an operating room nurse where she pursued her Master’s degree at Seton Hall University. Terry went on to become director of St. Francis Nursing School in Jersey City where she guided many student nurses throughout the tristate area and was an inspiration to patients, faculty and staff.
She was widely regarded for her enthusiasm, work ethic, and approachability. Terry was a no nonsense, loyal advocate to her students, colleagues, friends and family.
Terry is survived by her beloved family: the members of the Boitano, Vargas, Rodrigues, and Lalli families. They will forever cherish the memories of her and will carry her genuine spirit, quick wit, and brutal honesty forever in their hearts and minds.
“Terry was an original and lived her life on her own terms. It's hard to capture such things, especially considering the times in which she lived...she broke some traditions for sure! The thing I will always remember about her was her sense of humor and brutal honesty which often went hand in hand. She was a super devoted friend to all in her circle, especially my grandmother, Ruth.”
