Victor M. Shaljian, age 83, of Jersey City, Marion Section, and formerly of Hoboken, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Victor was a clerk at Chase Bank in New York City and the Jersey City Incinerator Authority before retiring. His work ethic and commitment to his roles earned him the admiration of his colleagues.
Victor served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Japan with the supply unit.
Victor was proud of his Armenian heritage and also loved everything Italian. He was a dedicated member of the Dante Alighieri Society in Jersey City. His presence at all the events was always warmly welcomed, and he was a regular at the Monday Night Wine Club. Victor cherished the company of friends including the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Rosarians, and could often be found at Rita & Joe's Restaurant or Ercolano's Deli, both in Jersey City. He also enjoyed spending holidays with his friends and visits to family in Florida.
Victor was the devoted son of the late Victor and Mary Shaljian. He is survived by loving cousins and many dear friends, all of whom will miss his company and kindness.
Visitation is on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07306 (For GPS Navigation, please use the parking lot entrance address: 14 Stagg St., Jersey City). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City. The Mass will be livestreamed for those unable to attend below Victor's obituary on the funeral home website at https://www.riottofh.com/obituary/Victor-Shaljian. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
