Viola Macagnano (nee Barone), 98, a proud lifelong resident of the Marion Section in Jersey City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
Viola was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Jersey City. A lifetime member of the Rosarian Society, she was also a Eucharistic minister and a member of the 50 Plus Club. Viola would always work the annual feast and was known as the "Zeppole Lady." She enjoyed going to all church events, socializing in the neighborhood and loved spending time with her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viola was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Macagnano; devoted mother of Anthony Macagnano and his wife Maryann (DeRosa) and the late Maryann Warnick; loving grandmother of Robert & Lynn Macagnano, Milissa & Ignazio Ingrassia, Thomas Macagnano, Carmela & Scott Mancini, Stephanie & Neil Mendonca, Michael Warnick; cherished great-grandmother of Meaghan, Willow, Tabitha and Athena Macagnano, Ciro Gino and Rocco Ingrassia, Nicole Macagnano, Maria Mancini and Harrison Mendonca. Also survived by many loving relatives and dear friends.
Visitation is on Friday, October 9, 2020, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306 (www.riottofh.com). Everyone will meet for the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 10, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
