Vito Scelza, 87, of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
Vito served in the Italian Navy before emigrating to the US. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph's Church in Jersey City. Vito had a passion for music and singing and was also a proud member of the St. Joseph's Church Choir. He loved soccer and was an avid fan of the S.S.C. Napoli Soccer Club. Vito worked for many years as a textile cutter before his retirement. His laughter and unwitting sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Surviving are Vito's cherished wife of 63 years, Anna Scelza (Nee Savino); his beloved children, Lidia Lampone and her husband John, Gino Scelza, Roberto Scelza and his wife Jean Marie, and Lisa Simoes and her husband Manuel. Also surviving are his dear grandchildren: Gabriella, Arabella, Michael, and Carissa.
Visitation is Sunday, July 12, 2020, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services are Monday, 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM mass at St. Joseph's Church, Jersey City. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vito's name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
