William Peter Dugan, 66, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Hoboken.
William was born on June 17, 1955, in the Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, to Gerald Dugan and Irene Dugan. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1975.
William began his lifetime employment with the New Jersey Transit for thirty-three years and was recently retired. Outside of his work, he loved mostly spending his time with family and eating out daily. He loved watching sports with his family, particularly during football season. He also enjoyed watching game shows with and old television series with his mother, as well as bowling.
William was a gentle giant who walked this earth and now soars with the angels. He loved everyone. He especially adored his son Adam and loved his grandchildren, who he spent his time with playfully, with a smile made of sunshine, and a heart of solid gold. His grandchildren and devoted son loved to call him by his nickname “PapaSmurf”.
He is survived by his devoted son, Adam William Dugan and his partner Carla Y. Osorio; His loving mother, Irene Dugan; His beloved siblings, Alicia Dugan, Gary Dugan and his wife Susan, and Patrick Dugan. His adored grandchildren, Raina Grace Dugan and Liam Matthew Dugan. His cherished nieces and nephews, Christopher Dugan, Jonathan Dugan and partner Gail Grady, Samantha Dugan and husband Adam Taylor, Casey Dugan, Nicholas Dugan, Joseph Dugan, Gabriel Dugan, Adriana Dugan, Greyland Taylor, and his dear friends, Pete Torres, Mel Hanibal, Mike Moran, Dave (with the NJ Transit Team of Hoboken).
Services: Visitation is Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City. (For GPS Navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Funeral is Thursday, January 27, 2022 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM mass at St. Paul of the Cross Church, Jersey City. Cremation will be private.
