William Ortiz Jr., 48, longtime resident of Jersey City, passed on the night of December 24th, 2021.
William is survived by his mother and step-father: Cristina and Fernando; his two brothers: Fernando Jr. (Nandy) and Ritchie; and four daughters: Anjelys, Analisse, Amaya, and Mia; and his son, William Matthew. Along with his numerous and cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
William was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 27th, 1973 to Cristina Vega-Bonilla and William Ortiz Sr. (deceased). He was the eldest child, and always was reliable to his family, being an example to his cousins and brothers. He attended Marist High School where he played baseball, exceeding expectations and was a star player, often reported in local newspapers. His passion for baseball was deep rooted in discipline and family tradition, his favorite team as of late was the NY Mets. He enrolled in Raritan Valley Community College and played for their baseball team, again playing with success, all while keeping good marks in class. As the years passed his family grew and he provided for his children as a commercial driver for a number of years. He was a man who loved to laugh, spend time with his family, and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed, as he left a great indent on the hearts he touched, May God bless William.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:30 PM- 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. On Wednesday morning, January 12, 2022, friends and family are invited to come to the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM in St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church located 691 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304, then followed by the entombment in Flower Hill Cemetery, located 5433 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ 07407.
