With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Zameela Sadick, who departed this life peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was 85 years old.
Born on November 28, 1940, in Berbice, Guyana, Zameela was raised in the rich traditions of her homeland. Guyana remained forever in her heart, shaping the warmth, strength, and grace that defined her life. In 2001, she made Jersey City her home, where she continued to build a legacy of love and devotion to her family.
Zameela was the beloved daughter of Hassan and Zamida Mohamed. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Ruben Sadick, with whom she shared a life rooted in commitment and family.
She leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever cherish her memory:
Her children, Zabena “Yvonne” Tandachary and her husband Derek, Ann Sadick, Lita Seecharan, Shazad Sadick and his wife Pinkey, and Annette Hernandez and her wife Maria. Her treasured grandchildren, Andrey, Sean Kevin and his wife Danielle, Alicia and her husband Alex, Sean, and Dennis and his wife Emily. Her adored great grandchildren, Kristen, Mia, Ethan, and Ace. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Azema Ross and Zaireen Lalte.
Zameela was the heart of her family. Kind, caring, and endlessly loving, she was truly the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the unmistakable aroma of her incredible cooking. To say she was “the best cook” is not simply praise, it is a family truth. Her meals brought everyone together, and her kitchen was a place of comfort and joy.
She loved going to the movies, took pride in always dressing beautifully, and carried herself with quiet elegance. But above all, she cherished caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her pride and her happiness. Every hug, every meal, every moment spent together was an expression of her deep and unwavering love.
Zameela’s life was a testament to devotion, strength, and family. She leaves behind not only memories, but a legacy of compassion, resilience, and unconditional love that will live on through generations.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. Cremation will be private.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that love like hers never fades. It continues in every recipe passed down, every family gathering, and every story told.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
