Georgeos Hr. Mavrommatis

Georgeos Hr. Mavrommatis, 76, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2017.  Georgeos was born in Trikala, Thessaly, Greece, raised in Athens and immigrated to Jersey City in 1968.  Georgeos served in the Greek Air Force as a radar operator.

Georgeos was well known as an area chef working in various Greek diners and restaurants.  He enjoyed spending time with friends in diners and at the Greek club playing cards.  

Georgeos was the beloved son of the late Christos and Maria Mavrommatis; Loving brother of Evangelia Charas and her late husband Stanley, Katherine Romanoff and her husband Bruce and the late Takis and Sotiria Mavrommatis; Dear uncle of Charles, William and Chris and his wife Elaina Charas, Nicholas Romanoff, Christos and Apostole and his wife Vasiliki Mavrommatis; Cherished greatuncle of Nicholas and Michael Charas and Sotiria Mavrommatis.  Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 5pm to 8pm, Trisagion 7pm.  Everyone will meet for a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, 11am at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, Jersey City.  Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
