Romualdo Calogero

Romualdo "Ray" Calogero, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.   Romualdo was born in Filicudi, Italy and served in the Italian Navy.  He moved to Australia and became a commercial fisherman.  In 1953, Romualdo immigrated to the United States and founded Jersey Avenue Fish Market, Jersey City in 1960 and retired in 1986.  Romualdo loved making wine, growing fruit in his backyard and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of the late Lucy Calogero (Iscaro); loving father of Steve Calogero & wife Angela, Raymond Calogero, Anthony Calogero & wife Joy, Gregory Calogero & wife Margaret; loving grandfather of Francesca Mullany & husband Ryan, Christopher, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Julianna and John; Cherished great-grandfather of Connor, Matthew and Thomas.  Also survived by beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation from Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4-8 PM.  Funeral will begin on Saturday, April 23, 2016, 8 AM at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will follow 9 AM at St. Nicholas Church, Jersey City.  Entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Italian Education Cultural Center, 380 Monmouth St., Jersey City, NJ 07302
