Charles "Buckie" J. Rhodes

Charles Joseph Rhodes "Buckie," age 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born in Baltimore, MD, raised in Virginia and New York, and lived most of his life in the Marion section of Jersey City.

Charles was a retired blue seal black seal engineer for Bell Container in Newark. Charles served as a medic in the U.S. Navy during WWII in Okinawa. Charles loved his work, spending time – especially playing Pinochle and dice -- with family and was very proud to serve his country.

Charles was the beloved Husband of the late Concetta "Tina" Rhodes (nee Piccirilli), Father of the late Mark Rhodes and survived by Charlene Rhodes Fiederowicz as well as Father-In-Law to John Fiederowicz. Charles was the devoted Grandfather of Nicole, Jennifer, Marc, and Sara Jean, and Honored Great Grandfather to Hannah, Marc, Anastasia, Angelia, Alexandra, and another little girl on the way. He is the son of the late Florence and Clarence Rhodes, is the last of the seven Rhodes siblings that included George, Louise, Phyllis, Leonard, Dewey, and Huey. He is the Uncle and Great-Uncle to many, including Francis, Dennis, Tiffany, Alex, Frankie, Dean, Douglas, Danny, Ann, Helen, Piko, Adele, Nicky and Godfather to Vita Marie and friend to countless -- especially Jerry, Randy and Sam.

Visitation is on Sunday, April 30, 2017, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.  Everyone will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 1, 2017, 11:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
