John S. Libitz  “John-John” a lifelong resident of Jersey City, Marion Section - Wallis Avenue, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

John was born on March 13th 1939 to John Libitz and Sophie Abello Libitz DeAntonio;  Loving and devoted Husband of 51 years to Jeanette Belka Libitz; Devoted Father to three sons John S. Libitz Jr. “Johnny Boy," Leonard and Louis Libitz; Dear Father-in-Law to Susan Rosa Libitz and Gloria M. Pafumi Libitz;  Loving Grandfather to John S. Libitz Jr. and Jennifer Guarini Ellerman; Cherished Great-grandson to Antonio and Vincenza Abello; Dear Brother to Frank “Buffy” DeAntonio, Michael “Mad Dog”, Maria Elaina, Carol Ann and Joseph.

John honorably served in the US Army 4th Armor Division as a Tank Driver in Germany during the Cold War in 1958 to 1960.  In the 1970s and 1980s, John along with his brother Michael owned Atlas Auto Wreckers on Newark Avenue in Jersey City.  He later worked for the Jersey City Water Department as a Pumping Operator, Jersey City Board of Education in their Automotive Department and the US Postal Service before his retirement in 2004.

John had a long-time passion for classic cars.  There wasn't a car or automobile that John didn't like.  He was an expert and enthusiast in antique cars from the 50's and 60's.  He was a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.  A Life long member of the "Sons of Marion."  A loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Father-in-Law, Family member and friend to so many.  Our Hero!

Visitation will be Sunday, March 26, 2017, 3:00pm to 7:00pm at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.  Funeral will begin on Monday, March 27, 2017, 9:30am at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will follow 10:30am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City.  Entombment will take place at Holy Name Mausoleum, Jersey City.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
